Howard Dalton Ayers, age 85 of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2019.  He was born January 15, 1934 in Sardis, Oklahoma to parents Floyd and Bertha Ayers who preceded him in death along with his wife, Martha Ayers; brother, Hershel Ayers; and sisters, Opal Carrol and Jane Traylor.

 

Survivors include his son, Leonard Ayers and wife Rhonda; daughters, Teresa Gingles and husband David, Patty Magee and husband Tim; brother, Earl Ayers; sisters, June Bush and Melba Traylor; grandchildren, Dallas Gingles and wife Rebecca, Dana Dunn and husband Adam, Mia Gingles, Mattie Gingles, Timothy Magee and wife Rachel, Kimberly Hudson and husband Brad, Sean Ayers and wife Amy, Shane Ayers and wife Karli; great-grandchildren, Faith, Amy, David, Canaan, Mali, Gabriel, Grant, Graham, Silas, Parker, Addy, Reed, Kynzee, Kylee, Jayden, Gage, Colt and Rhett; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

 

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at Pace Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas.

Leslie Joseph Hebert, age 75 of New Caney, Texas, passed away Friday, May 31, 2019.  He was born July 23, 1943 in Port Arthur, Texas to parents Alvin and Lillian Hebert who preceded him in death along with his sister, Patti Hebert; and brother, Jimmy Hebert.

 

Leslie enjoyed cooking, but his greatest love was his two children and their spouses, his grandchildren and spending time with family.  He also enjoyed his church family at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church.

 

Survivors include his daughter, Wendi Osterhage and husband John Osterhage; son Jason Hebert and wife Sheila Hebert; sisters, Sharon Staton and Toni Adams; brother, Terrell Hebert and spouse Ellie Hebert; grandchildren, Brice Osterhage, Briea Osterhage, and Lori Hebert; and numerous other relatives and friends.

 

Rosary will be at 9:30 a.m., Monday, June 3, 2019 at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, New Caney, Texas with the Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Fr. Linh Nguyen.

Evelyn Eldora Sanders, age 94 of Rusk, Texas, passed away Monday, May 27, 2019.  She was born June 27, 1924 in Livingston, Texas to parents A.S. and Ollie Lamb who preceded her in death along with her husband, Sidney E. Dean; and seven siblings.

 

Evelyn was a 1943 graduate of Cleveland High School. She loved painting and gardening.

 

Survivors include her son, Nile James Dean, Sr. and wife Dee; step-son, Robert Foley and wife Christy; along with four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Bear Creek Cemetery, Cleveland, Texas officiated by Roy Bobbitt.

J.D. Farrill, 87, died Tuesday, May 28, 2019 in Beaumont, Texas, after a long illness. J.D. was born on August 8, 1931 in Rockland, Texas to his parents, Edward and Beulah Conner Farrill.

 

J.D. is survived by his wife of 54 years, Hazel Lee Bennett; his son, John David Farrill and wife Samantha Farrill; step-son, Fred Guinn and wife Pat Guinn; step-daughter, Laura Jean Wahlberg; grandchildren, Stephen and Paige Guinn, Travis and Teri Guinn and Jacob Farrill; six great-grandchildren, Kara Guinn, Hunter Guinn, Claire Guinn, Marin Guinn, Eli Guinn, and Cody Guinn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

J.D. is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Beulah Farrill; brothers, R.C. (Micky) Farrill and Robert Edward Pearl; sister, Gena Mae Jordan; and half-sister, Ruby Phillips.

 

J.D. enlisted in the Army and served in Korea from 1950 to 1953.  J.D. was a tank driver, which he called the “Terrible Termite”.  He married his wife, Hazel, on July 30, 1964 and they lived in North Shore (Houston) for many years.

 

After a long employment with Anheuser Busch in Houston, he retired in 1990 and moved to Votaw, Texas where he enjoyed the simple life of living in the country. He became active with his church serving as a Deacon at Rainbow Baptist Church and Saratoga Baptist Church. He became an active member in the Dayton Masonic Lodge No. 825 & A.M. and the Eastern Star.

 

The family would like to thank Serenity Assisted Care, as well as Hospice Plus for their care and concern over the past few months.

 

Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. – 12 Noon, Monday, June 3, 2019 at First Baptist Church, Saratoga, Texas with services beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Votaw Cemetery, Votaw, Texas.

Shirley Ann Honeycutt, age 83 of Dayton, Texas, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019.  She was born December 15, 1935 in Garrison, Texas to parents Frank and Allece Bridwell who preceded her in death along with her husband, Willie Honeycutt.

 

Survivors include her daughter, Connie Enmon; sisters, Elizabeth McBryde, Madge Ross and Imogene Skelton; grandchildren, Jody Enmon and Jennifer McCarver; great-grandchildren, Dillion, Jordan and Virgil; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Ruthie Mae Chapman, age 79 of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019.  She was born January 9, 1940 in Livingston, Texas to parents Jack and Dorothy Collins Davis who preceded her in death along with her husband, John W. Chapman; and sister, Betty Davis Jones.

 

Ruthie was a lifelong resident of Cleveland and was well known for her delicious cakes and treats.  She also loved volunteering at the Cleveland Senior Center. She will be missed by all who had the honor to know her.

Bobby Earl Harness was born March 5th 1964 in Conroe Texas and passed away Thursday May 23rd 2019 in Houston Texas, at the age of 55.

 

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving parents Robert Marvin Harness and Johnnie Holifield Harness of Tarkington Prairie. His three children Joshua Paul Harness of Tarkington, Brittany Harness Leasman and husband Randy of Coldspring, and Jacob Benjamin Harness and wife Tamisu of Tarkington. His sister Candy Harness Andrus and Bobby Evans of Tarkington Prairie and his grandchildren Reagan and Ava Leasman, Aubrey Schnelle, Kutter Harness, and Hayden Staples Harness. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. 

 

Bobby was a graduate of Tarkington High School and has been a resident of Tarkington Prairie for over 50 years. He has succeeded in many life adventures, from coaching little league ball to driving a log truck. Bobby has touched many with his generous spirit and will go on to be remembered by some of his closest friends who have became his extended family. Wayne Bowman and wife Cindy, Dako Sullivan and wife Sonya, Mike Murray and wife Debbie, Justin Ring, and Larry Don Thomas.

 

Bobby is preceded in death by his grandparents Robert Clayton Harness and wife Lucille Estelle Harness. Horace Benjamin Holifeild and wife Avie Lee Holifield.

David Ernest Martin, age 73 of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2019.  He was born June 9, 1945 in Gainesville, Arkansas to Gerald and Wilma Martin who preceded him in death along with his sister, Joyce Richard; and infant brother, Gerald Ray Martin.

 

Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Carole Martin; son, Alan Martin and wife Vivika von Rosen-Martin; daughters, Tina Parmenton and husband Steve, Rebecca Kohl and husband Justin, Tonya Farina and husband Mike; brothers, Tommy Martin and wife Ruby, Ricky Martin and wife April, and Johnny Martin; sisters, Loretta Hayes and husband Darrell, and Irene Stripling; aunt, Shirley Bennett; along with fourteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

Mr. Martin was an Army Veteran who served two tours in Vietnam. He had a passion for flying and bowling.

 

A celebration of life will be held at First United Methodist Church, 56 HWY 115 Cave City, Arkansas on June 1, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make donations to your local Wounded Warrior Project or Disabled Veteran charity.

Betty Jean Faircloth, age 78 of Coldspring, Texas, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2019.  She was born January 26, 1941 in Seagraves, Texas to parents Thaddaus Thomas Williams and Lavania E. Baxter Williams who preceded her in death along with her brothers, Raymond Williams, Roy Williams, Richard Williams and Harold Williams; and sister, Carolyn Williams.

 

Betty was a very artistic person who excelled at oil painting and stained glass.  She loved working with children, and enjoyed sports.

 

Survivors include her loving husband of 58 years, Oran “Wayne” Faircloth; daughter, Tammi Thompson and husband Daniual Scott Thompson; brother, Riley Williams and wife Darlene; sisters, Johnnie Faye Boothe, Juanita Kennedy, and Nina Rayne; grandchildren, Daniual Brett Thompson and wife Molly, and Oran Chase Thompson; numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Weldon Lloyd Marriott, age 84 of Onalaska, Texas, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2019.  He was born July 17, 1934 in Rice, Texas to parents T.D. and Ophelia Hughes Marriott who preceded him in death along with his wives, Bonnie Ruth Marriott and Wilma Marriott; son, Timothy Marriott; brothers, Norman Marriott, Robert Marriott and Jerry Marriott; and sister, JoAnn Strickland.

 

Mr. Marriott was a member of UPC Charity Tabernacle in Blanchard, Texas. He was a hard-working man who took pride in everything he did. In his spare time, you could catch him watching westerns and enjoying a good meal.

 

Survivors include his son, Stephen Marriott; daughter, Cheryl Werth and husband Hugo; daughters-in-law, Kim Marriott and Loretta Marriott; grandchildren, Kimberly Fuqua, April Marriott, Crystal Theodoridis and husband Chris, Stephen Marriott and wife Tessa, Greg Garcia and wife Andrea, and Travis Ries; great-grandchildren, Crystal, Corey, Lyla, Christos, Eleni, Londyn, Chase, Layne, Caleb, Liam and Aria; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
