Clyta Jean Carter, age 88 of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Monday, July 29, 2019.  She was born July 8, 1931 in Cleveland, Texas to parents Fred and Myrtle Purswell who preceded her in death along with her husband, Bennie Charles Sweet; husband, Robert Carter; and son, Clyde Sweet.

 

Survivors include her sons, Charles Sweet, Floyd Carter and wife Kathy, and Bobby Carter; daughter, Deborah Cunningham and husband Robert; brother, A.J. Purswell and wife Wanda; grandchildren, Jake Sweet, Ben Sweet, Trey Sweet, Kenny Carter, Melissa Carter, Bethany Carter, and Michael Carter; great-grandchildren, Bennie Sweet, IV, Bailey Raye Sweet, Bonnie Rue Sweet, Bella Jean Sweet, Lindsay Carter, Avery Haynes, and Addi Haynes; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

 

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Cleveland Memorial Park, Cleveland, Texas.

James Revis McClure, age 89 of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2019.  He was born April 30, 1930 in Sunset, Texas to parents James Huston and Ludie Elva Brown McClure who preceded him in death along with his daughter, Cathy Goldman; sister Betty Lydic; infant sister, Ruth Ann; and great-granddaughter, Abigale Goldman.

 

Revis was a veteran of the United States Army, and served his country during the Korean Conflict.  He was one of those people who never met a stranger.  He loved raising his game fowl (roosters), and was a huge Oklahoma Sooner fan.  Revis was a faithful member of Cornerstone Church, and will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

 

Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Charlene McClure; sons, Allan McClure and wife Darla, and Gary McClure and wife Carolyn; great-grandsons, Anthony Goldman and Alexander Goldman; son-in-law, Donald Goldman; brothers, Jimmy Wayne McClure and wife Anita, and Jack Dale McClure; grandchildren, Micheal Revis McClure and wife Shantae, Levi Allan McClure, Drayton Lee McNew-McClure, David Lee McNew-McClure and wife Jovanna, Reanna Kay McClure, Savanna Renee McClure, Spencer McClure and wife Paige, Brittany McClure, Dustin Goldman, Nicole Barrackman and husband Daniel, and Cayla Fernandez and husband, Jesse; great-grandchildren, Madison, Aleena, Daxton, Adeline, Charlie, Sky, Brandon, Lydia, Danielle, Kaitlin, Elizabeth, Madison, Jesse, Hailee, Caylee and Annessa; his dog, Sue; numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Anna Lou Hinkle, age 92 of Baytown, Texas, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2019.  She was born January 15, 1927 in Marcella, Arkansas to E. E. and Queen Johnson Martin who preceded her in death.

 

She is survived by her loving husband, Billy Hinkle; son, Terry Hinkle and wife Gale; grandson Billy R. Hinkle; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

 

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 5, 2019 at Ryan Cemetery, Cleveland Texas, officiated by Bro. Andy Cherry.

Olga Ann McGaughey, age 86 of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2019.  She was born April 9, 1933 in Fostoria, Texas to parents Nicholas Anthony and Angela Olga Zohar who preceded her in death along with her husband, Billy McGaughey; and brother, Edward Zohar.

 

Mrs. McGaughey was a resident of Cleveland for 50 years.  She was very artistic enjoying painting and crafts, and was an animal lover.  Mrs. McGaughey loved taking care of people, but her greatest joy was her family.  She was the greatest Mother and Grandmother ever. 

 

Survivors include her daughters, Michelle Gahan and husband Mike, and Lisa Collins and husband Mervyn; grandchildren, Shelby LaBuff, Sarah West and husband Trent, Dusty Collins, Austin Collins and wife Shelby, and Leah Iler and husband Stuart; great-grandchildren Makenzie, Triniti, Kendall, Tegan, Kaeson, Preston, Rylen, Kamdyn, Ivy, and Korbin; numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

 

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 5, 2019 at Pace Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with the service beginning at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Bro. Tony Hines.  Interment will follow at Houston National Cemetery, Houston, Texas.

Lester Glenn Bittick, age 76 of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2019.  He was born May 24, 1943 in Cleveland, Texas to parents Henry Warren Bittick and Ethel Estell Godejohn who preceded him in death along with his sisters, Alma Houck and Benita Harris; and brother, Maurice Bittick.

 

Survivors include his wife, Gwenda Sue Bittick; daughters, Kathy, Kelley, Mechelle and Stacey; sons, Kevin and Steve; grandchildren, Kristopher (more like a son), Michaela, Joseph, T.J., Paisley, Tyler, Kaliegh, Madison, Shaun, David, Emily, Aaron, Arie, Katy and Luke; great-grandchildren, Cooper, Jordan and Bradlee; numerous extended family and friends.

Vickie Marie Pinkard, age 61 of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Monday, July 22, 2019.  She was born December 8, 1957 in DeRidder, Louisiana to parents Warren Smith and Bobbie Cantrell Smith who preceded her in death along with her infant sister, Lisa Annette Smith.

 

Vickie loved travelling, fishing, flowers, shopping online and cooking.  She had a real talent for decorating cakes and was a professional cake decorator for Kroger. More than anything, Vickie loved her family. She had a good sense of humor and was quite a jokester.  Vickie will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.

 

Survivors include her husband, William Pinkard; daughters, Suzette Tenir (Robin), Lisa Shaw (Ramon), Elizabeth Reed (Sylvia), Julie Allen (Jonathan), and Jolie Leger; brothers, Mike Smith (Nancy), Leonard Smith, Leslie Smith (Joyce); sister, Melinda Smith; grandchildren, Tyler Squier, Madison Benthall, Brady Benthall, Charlie Shaw, Lily Shaw, Frank Jackson, Jonathan Allen, MacKenzie Allen; her dog, Chewy; numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Clarence Ezell Rhoden passed away in Houston Texas on July 17, 2019 after a short battle with cancer and complications from a car accident. He was born on June 23, 1939 in Conroe, Texas to Louis Rhoden and Minnie Ola Tipton Rhoden. He grew up in Cleveland where he had a career in auto sales. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing with his family and was known to be a tough domino and card player. He leaves behind no shortage of memories for those who knew him best.

 

Ezell was preceded in death by his father, mother, and brothers Raymond and Harold. He is survived by daughter Leslie May husband Barry, son Kevin Rhoden and wife Dorothy, brothers Dick Rhoden, Louis Rhoden and wife Bettye, sisters Ellen Poling and Beatrice Rhoden, five grandsons and one great grandson. He also leaves a host of family and friends who will miss his kindness, thoughtfulness and quick wit.

 

The family would like to thank his special neighbors, Rob and Donna Wilson, as well as the Houston Methodist staff for all the compassion, care and concern for Ezell.

 

The family will receive friends Monday, July 22 at 9am at Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland Texas with services immediately following in the chapel. Interment will follow at Bold Springs Cemetery.
