Mary Ann McKee was born May 7, 1938, in Kauai, Hawaii to parents Manuel and Helen Rita. Mary Ann passed away Friday, September 2, 2022, at the age of 84. Mary Ann grew up in Kauai, Hawaii and loved visiting the beaches every chance she could. She had a love for animals and would take them in without any hesitation. Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents Manuel and Helen Rita; husband Ronald McKee; brothers Stanley and Allen Rita; and daughter, Melissa McKee Tangney. Mary Ann is survived by her children, Steven McKee and Darla of Cleveland, Eric McKee of Cleveland, Michelle McKee Grissom and Husband Charles of Montgomery, and Shawn McKee of Cleveland; Grandchildren Christopher McKee, Chantelle Taylor, Jennifer Bowers, Britton Grissom, Andrew McKee, Hillary Grissom, Ryan McKee, and Caryn Grissom; great-grandchildren, Emilie McKee, Shaun McKee, Tristan McKee, Addison McKee, Brooke Bowers, Dakota Taylor, and Leon Taylor; along with numerous relatives and friends.

Patsy Raby was born June 18, 1936 in Galveston, Texas to parents John and Ada Barnett Kavells. She passed away September 1, 2022 in Kingwood, Texas at the age of 86. Patsy worked in her early years as a bank teller, and lived in Romayor, Texas. She loved her family with all her heart and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ada Kavells; daughter, Ann Marie Moore; sister, Sophie Roberts. She is survived by her beloved husband of 37 years, Bill Raby; children, Vicki Sullivan and husband Denny, Lisa Ramsey, Joni Corley and husband Jason; grandchildren, Renee and Brandon, Joe and Amanda, Rochelle and Danny, Lauren and Damien, Wakefield and Claire, Ricky and Amanda, Brooke and Corey, Kylie and Justin; numerous great grandchildren; cousin, Rosalie Grady.

Marie Woods-Jones was born April 18, 1943 in Shepherd, Texas to parents, John Henry Herrod and Bessie Lee Stephens Herrod. She passed away August 23, 2022 in Conroe, Texas at the age of 79. Marie graduated from South Houston High School in 1961, she worked for Sears Department Store and later owned her own tavern. She loved to sew, play bingo, go to casinos, and especially loved her chickens. Marie loved her family and enjoyed the precious time she spent with them. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Bessie Lee Herrod; 3 husbands, David Eugene Williams, Rodrick Woods, John C. Jones; brothers, Billy Ray Herrod and Jason Carl “Hillbilly” Herrod; sister, Vera Mae Emerson. Marie is survived by her daughter, Debbie Dixon and husband Mark; son, Rodney Jason Woods and wife Michelle; sister, Dorothy Herrod Floria; brother, Samuel Douglas Herrod; grandchildren, Jenifer Dodson and husband Carlos, Jesica Dixon, Jasmyn Terry and husband Dylan, Mark Dixon Jr and wife Jaimee, Curtis Ryan Woods, Cody Randall Woods and wife Amber, George Stanley Woods; great grandchildren, Jasper Nicholas Dixon, Maverick Randall Terry, Cayleigh Reasmey Marie Woods, Gabriel Everit Dodson; roommate/nephew, Bubba Pittman; beloved dog, Buddy. Funeral Service will be in the Pace-Stancil Chapel on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 3pm with Pastor Zack Currie officiating. Burial will follow in the Farley Chapel Cemetery in Shepherd, Texas. Pallbearers for the service will be: Donald Floria, Jonathan Floria, Gene Herrod, Dylan Terry, Casey Kyle and Cody Woods.

Bonnie Yvonne Smith was born February 15, 1936 in Lyon County, Kentucky to parents Marvin and Annie Duff Neal. She passed away August 22, 2022 in The Woodlands, Texas at the age of 86. Bonnie worked for many years as a secretary in the advertising business and assisting others in promoting their creative arts. Family was always extremely important to her and she had a great passion in her love of music, paintings, and books. She enjoyed and admired the beauty in nature, particularly birds. All of these attributes, along with an open minded imagination, are traits that have been handed-down to her children.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Annie Neal; husband, Robert Lee Smith Sr. She is survived by her sons, John M. Smith and Robert L. Smith Jr; brother Eddie Bozarth; sisters, Pauline Hawkins and Glenda Smith; grandchildren, Scott Smith and Samantha Schuller; 4 great grandchildren.

Charles R. “Bubba” Smith was born on November 27, 1949, in Cleveland, Texas to parents, Carl J. and Geneva Sheppard Smith. He passed away August 20, 2022, at the age of 72. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl J. Smith, and Geneva Sheppard Smith; brother, Carl Wayne Smith; sister, Linda Carol Griffin; niece, Leah Michelle Knight. He is survived by his loving wife, Fonda Smith; sons, C. Jason Smith and wife Robyn, Charles Bolin and Stephanie Kelly and Jason ‘JJ” Bolin; daughters, Savana Smith, and Samantha Smith; grandchildren, Triston Smith, and Caylee Smith; great grandchildren, Kinzleigh and Huck Bolin, children of Hailey Hobbs; brother, Eddie Smith and wife Nancy; along with numerous other nieces, nephews, family, and cherished friends.

Visitation will be Thursday. August 25, 2022, at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home from 5-8pm. Funeral Service will be Friday, August 26, 2022, at 11:00am in the Pace-Stancil Chapel with Pastor Mark Needham officiating. Burial will follow in the Montague Cemetery in Cleveland, Texas. Pallbearers for the service will be Calvin McBee, Charles Curtis Bolin, James Garland, Kris Zelk, J. Bolin, Ernest Knight. Honorary Pallbearers will be Josh McBee, John Nunnley, J. T. Garland, Johnny Johnson.

Andrew Powell Gilchriest was born June 11, 1969 in Cleveland, Texas to parents Herbert D. Gilchriest and Edna Wood Gilchriest. He passed away in Cleveland, Texas on August 18, 2022 at the age of 53. Andrew was a lifelong resident of Cleveland and had worked for various television stations including Fox Network. He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert D. Gilchriest; 2 brothers, David Gilchriest and John Gilchriest. Andrew is survived by his beloved mother, Edna Wood Gilchriest; aunt, Charlene Terry; niece, Jaye Ann Cox; nephew, Josh Gilchriest. A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for Saturday, August 27, 2022 at the Calvary Baptist Church at 2pm with Bro. Carl Williamson officiating.

Billie Jean Stephens-Jones was born in Fostoria, Texas on March 3, 1933 to parents, Garvie Walker and Lottie Mae Jeffcoat Walker. She went to her Heavenly Home on August 16, 2022 in Porter, Texas at the age of 89. Billie worked as a secretary at Huffman Middle School for 20 years and in her earlier years she went with her family to Calvary Baptist Church. Billie and her family traveled around the world with her husband serving in the military. She was preceded in death by her parents, Garvie and Lottie Mae Walker; husbands, Billy Stephens and CJ Jones; brother, Jack Walker. Billie is survived by her 4 children, Jennifer Brady and husband Johnny, Barbara Cates and husband Ricky, Billy Stephens Jr and wife Megan, Kathryn Troutman and husband Darrell; brother, Charles Walker and wife Darlene; sister, Evelyn Davison and husband Van; 18 grandchildren, Miranda, Quinique, Johnny Jr, Charles, Jett, Kade, Petrina, Amber, Eric, Britney, Cortney, Conrad, Sawyer, Sienna, Megan, Gareth, Caitlin, and Cameron; 19 great grandchildren, Kylie, Blake, Nyle, Brooke, Finley, Hunter, Nazra, Y’Didiah, Laban, Isabella, Acelin, Alina, Skyla, Moses, Landon, Reagan, Ellie, Hadley, and Avery; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Melony Ann Robichaux was born in Houston, Texas on June 17, 1947 to parents, Jesse Denton Jackson and Clyde Joy Fetty Jackson. She went to her Heavenly Home on August 15, 2022 in Katy, Texas at the age of 75. Melony was an executive assistant at the Second Baptist Church in Houston, Texas where she also was a member. Melony loved her family, and enjoyed the time spent with all of them. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Melony was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Denton Jackson and Clyde Joy Jackson. She is survived by her brothers, Gary Jackson and wife Linda, Terry Jackson and wife Janet; sister, Laurie Bocon and husband Tom; nieces, Staci Barger, Stefani Jackson, Tera Jackson, Graclyn Bocon; nephews, Brandon Jackson, Dwayne Jackson, Matthew Jackson, Joshua Jackson, Sean Jackson; numerous great nieces and nephews.

Helen Kneese Phillips, 70, of Evergreen, TX passed away in her home surrounded by family on August 13, 2022. Helen was born October 1,1951, in Fredericksburg, TX to Hertha Edna Kneese and Elgin Werner Kneese. She attended Brackenridge Hospital School of Nursing and worked tirelessly as a nurse taking care of others in some capacity for her entire life. She married Mac Phillips and moved to East Texas where they raised their two kids, Jay and Heather. They went on to co-found Eastex Environmental Laboratory in Coldspring, and she took great pride in the work and life-long relationships formed there. Helen was a botanical wizard, skilled seamstress, savvy business woman, artist, and always up for an adventure and a home-improvement project. She could make a house a home better than anyone. She was kind, generous, resourceful, and she loved her family beyond words. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mac; and her eldest brother, Werner Kneese. Helen is survived by her son, Jay Phillips, and his wife, Lynde, and their daughters, Ella and Tess; daughter, Heather Laney, and her spouse, Jessica, and their son, Orion. Helen is also survived by her sister, Elaine Henry, and her husband, David; her brother, Travis “Buddy” Kneese, and his wife, Shirley; Danny Kneese and his wife, Linda; sister-in-law, Sue Mounce; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rosemarie and Bobby Leisner; and all of their children and grandchildren. A memorial service will be 2:00pm, Friday, August 19, 2022 at Evergreen Baptist Church with the interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Coldspring, TX. Arrangements under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donating to the Saafe House “In Memory of Helen Phillips" to support a family violence and crisis center.

Sylvia Dianne (Hill) Fitzgerald left this world on August 9, 2022. She will be greeted by her daughter, Jessica; parents, Jack and Vivian (Calley) Hill; and brother, Mark. Sylvia was born in Pasadena, Texas and graduated from Pasadena High School in 1978. She furthered her education at the University of Houston, graduating with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering in 1983. Sylvia is survived by her daughters: Elissa Mazza (husband Brian) and their daughter Harper Rose and Kristina Baldridge (husband Noah). She is also survived by her sister Annette Hill and niece Natalie Stubbs.

Graveside services will be held at “The Old Waverly Cemetery” on Cemetery Road in New Waverly, Texas on Saturday August 20 at 3:30. Sylvia will be laid to rest next to her beloved daughter, Jessica. She loved flowers, however, due to the loss of her daughter to leukemia, gifts to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society would also be appreciated.
