Lyman Elon Williams, age 96 of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Friday, May 18, 2018. He was born May 5, 1922 in Campti, Texas to parents Thomas Jackson Williams and Lodie Blackstock Williams who preceded him in death along with his wife, Sallie Janette King Williams; brother, Earl Williams; sister, LaMurle Murphy; and son-in-law, J.P. Rose.
Mr. Williams lived in the Cleveland area for 47 years. He was a preacher of the gospel for 55 years, and pastored 3 churches. He drove 18-wheelers cross-country until age 85. He was a deer hunter and enjoyed riding mules on trail rides.
Survivors include his son, Danny Williams and wife Brenda; daughters, Barbara Knox and husband Michael, and Linda Rose; sisters, Oleta Tapp, Edna Solis and husband Frank; grandchildren, Larry Williams, Steve Williams, Michael Knox, and Darla Pirner; great-grandchildren, Larry Williams II, Kara Railey, Hunter Williams, Devin Williams, Nicole Knox, Chelsea Knox, Garrett Knox, Morgan Knox, Brandon Herode, Kyle Herode and Chris Herode; great-great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Herode, Micah Williams, Carter Railey and Aiden Railey; numerous nephews, nieces and other family and friends.
Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Splendora First Pentecostal Church, Splendora, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Splendora First Pentecostal Church, Splendora, Texas. Graveside will be at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Swift Cemetery, Nacogdoches, Texas.
