Betty Jean Carter Lee, age 81 of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Monday, March 19, 2018.  She was born September 22, 1934 in Dayton, Texas to Alton Boyd Carter and Mamie Berry Carter. She was a middle child with siblings Roy and Donnie. She was raised on Carter Loop and went to school at Tarkington where she met and married her high school sweetheart, William Curtis Lee. They were married on October 11, 1952.  They were married for 65 years, 5 months and 8 days. They raised 3 children, Gerald Wayne, Dorinda Jean, and Rhonda Ann.

Betty was an avid hunter and fisherwoman. She was not much of a shooter, but she sure shot a lot of shells. She sometimes contributed to the freezer though. Fishing was her passion. She was competitive at it. It didn’t matter if it was in the river, the lake, saltwater or the gravel pits. She loved being on the water, just don’t outfish her!

Betty was baptized at Dolen Baptist Church on June 28, 1953.

She left us with lots of memories that we will cherish until we see her again. If anybody asks where she has gone, just tell them “SHE HAS GONE FISHING!!!”

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Curtis Lee; sister, Donnie Coker; son, Gerald Lee; daughters, Dorinda and David Stetson, and Rhonda and Steven Caswell; grandchildren, Kimberly Hart, Alicia Cox, Shane Lee, Cole Stetson, Keylee Hayden, and Kendra Caswell; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends.
